Nupi Lal Day observed in Pune, Cachar, Yairipok

Association of Manipuri Diaspora (AMAND) and AMAND Ladies Club jointly observed the 83rd Nupi Lal at ELTS auditorium, Pune on December 10 .
Marked by offering of floral tributes to the brave women of Manipur who fought the mighty British, the observance function was attended by W Satyabati, AMAND vice president Jiten Irom and Oinam Purnimashi as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Prizes were also distributed to winners of poetry recitation and quiz competitions held as part of the commemorative event.
In Cachar district of Assam, the 83rd Nupi Lal Day was observed at Pailapool community hall on December 12 under the joint initiative of Assam Manipuri Meira Paibi Apunba Lup AMMPAL) and All Manipuri Muslim Meira Paibi Sangsthan, Assam (AMMMPSA).
United Committee Manipur general secretary Ngangom Deba, AMMPAL president Th Sanathoi Devi, AMMPAL former president Beni Mishra, UCM consultative committee member Khomdram Ratan, UCM former general secretary and JCILPS co-convenor Warepam Second, AMMPAL legal advisor B Babu Singha, Nongchup Imphal Palem Ima Apunba Lup general secretary Soraisam Shanti, Eramdam Enat Chanura Loinsillon (EECHAL) president Tongbram Ibemcha alias Premita, Hingla Meira Paibi Lup, Karimganj general secretary Chingtham Rita Singha, AAMSU general secretary K Bikramjit Singha, AMMMPSA chief advisor Tampakmayum Nashib Ali and Jaribong Meira Paibi Lup Hailankandi president Bimola Sharma attended the commemorative event among others.
Meanwhile, Yairipok Universal College History Department in collaboration with its Women's Study Centre observed the 83rd Nupi Lal Day at the college premises in the presence of college secretary Gokulchandra Luwang followed by an exhibition, on Tuesday.
In a release, principal Dr Kh Budhachandra Singh informed that the exhibition on the theme "Great Sacrifice yields Great Achievement" was conducted to make the public aware about the 21 heroic women who led the fight against the mighty feudal and colonial powers.
The Department of History exhibited the archive materials under the supervision of convener Dr Nongmaithem Ke-shoriit Singh and co-convener Keisham Nishikumar Singh.
The materials put on display in the exhibition included medical reports of 5 seriously injured women, their witness statements and other official accounts, the principal added.
Women's Study Centre, YUC has also complemented the exhibition by displaying 15 other prominent Manipuri women who have excelled in various fields, the principal informed.
