Imphal, December 13 2022:
Uipo (Khoibu) Maruo Koukartuo (UMK), the apex body of the community, has strongly condemned the so called 'Declaration of Administrative Order in Respect of Village Boundary Dispute between Lairam Phungka Village (Wayang) and Khoibu (Khongthel) Village' programme to be organised by Tangkhul Aze Longphang (TAL), the apex body of Southern Tangkhul, on December 14 at Lairam Phungka village, which is being circulated on social media.
In a release, UMK president Joseph Hongsha and secretary Jim Ronglo said that there is a land dispute between Khoibu village, Tengnoupal district and Lairam Phungka village, Kamjong district and not as stated between Khoibu (Khongthel) and Lairam Phungka (Wayang).
Efforts to resolve the disputed are being handled by UMK and TAL after the bodies were entrusted the task by chiefs of the two villages.
UMK and TAL have been holding meetings to find ways and means to bring an amicable solution.
However, no conclusion has been arrived yet till now, it said.
UMK continued that considering this, it cannot understand why TAL is planning to unilaterally organise such a programme on a bilateral issue before arriving at a mutual agreement.
It also does not understand whose 'Administrative Order' TAL is going to declare, it posed.
UMK further asserted that in view of the aforementioned situation, the so called 'Administrative Order' going to be unilaterally declared on December 14 by TAL on the village boundary land dispute between Lairam Phungka and Khoibu villages is biased in nature, unacceptable and inapplicable to Uipo (Khoibu) people.
This is an act of violation of the 'Undertaking' signed on May 27 before the three SPs of Tengnoupal, Kamjong and Kakching districts, it further emphasised.
