Protests against liquor legalisation continue

Imphal, December 13 2022:
Continuing the protest against the cabinet decision of liquor legalisation in the state, All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), Thiyam Apunba Meira Paibi and CADA jointly staged a sit-in protest at Thiyam Mangrapokpi in Bishnupur dis trict on Tuesday.
In a release, CADA information & publicity secretary Khundongbam Anand informed that the protestors shouted slogans against liquor legalisation in the state, and demanded revocation of government's decision to legalise liquor so as to save lives of people from alcoholism.
Thiyam Apunba Meira Paibi secretary Soraisam Nandarani said that mothers of Manipur have been fighting against liquor and other addictive substances in the state for the future generation and asserted that the decision on liquor legalisation taken by the government will never be accepted.
While assuring of extending support to any form of movement taken up by Nupi Samaj and CADA against liquor legalisation, she cautioned of launching intense protest if the government does not revoke it.
Meanwhile, Nupi Samaj, United Women's Voluntary Association, Morning Star Club, Yumnam Patlou and CADA jointly took out torch rally in Yumnam Patlou area on Monday night.
The rally passed through different areas of Yumnam Patlou shouting slogans against liquor legalisation in the state.
