Samurou PC, CRPF reach last-16 of Men's State Polo Tournament

Samurou Polo Club scraped past Khurai Polo Club as CRPF Polo Team outclassed Arbind Polo Club-B to secure last-16 berths in the 37th Men's State Polo Tournament 2022 on Saturday.
Samurou Polo Club started the day with a hard-fought 4-3 win over Khurai Polo Club to progress in the tournament.
K Pandit put Samurou PC in front in the first chukker but Khurai PC restored parity in the next chukker through A Bijeshor whose leveller lasted barely one minute as A Alex scored twice in the space of 30 seconds to give Samurou a 3-1 lead.
Khurai PC, however, fought their way back into contention in the third chukker with a goal each from E Romesh and Th Premkumar.
Neither side were able to break the 3-3 deadlock in the fourth chukker, leading to an extended chukker where K Pandit hammered home a golden goal to seal the victory for Samurou Polo Club.
The second match saw CRPF Polo Team inflict a crushing 7-2 defeat on Arvind Polo Club-B.Arbind PC took the lead 65 seconds into the first chukker courtesy of S Ranjan before W Dhiken drew level for CRPF in a matter of 2 minutes.
In the second chukker, the CRPF riders pumped in four goals with a pair of goals from Y Dijen and one each from Dhiken, his second goal, and A Shyammananda while keeping their opponents at bay.
In the third chukker, M Dev reduced the deficit for Arbind PC before Shyammananda struck twice to complete his treble and help CRPF close out the game in dominating fashion after both teams were goalless in the fourth chukker.
