MLA elect of Jiribam AC Ashab Uddin has appealed to the people of his Constituency to shun violence and focus on development.
Notably, Jiribam has been reporting a series of violent activities such as vandalisation of houses, vehicles and assaulting supporters of rival parties after the result of the Assembly election was declared.
In view of the emerging situation in the district, the State Government has suspended mobile data services in the whole of Jiribam for a period of five days with immediate effect.
The State Government has also imposed restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC in the district yesterday.
Speaking to the media at his official residence at Babupara, Imphal today, Ashab Uddin who contested the election on JD (U) ticket said that Jiribam AC has been witnessing a series of violence after the poll result was declared on Thursday.
Saying that some sections of people resorting to violence is very unfortunate, Ashab Uddin urged the people of Jiribam AC to shun violence and focus on development.
Aggressive or violent intent and activity is never the answer and it will hamper development of Jiribam, the MLA elect said and added that he doesn't differentiate people based on caste, creed or religion.
He, on the other hand, thanked the people of Jiribam AC for re-electing him as their representative.
Responding to media's queries, Ashab Uddin said that six of the JD-(U) candidates who won the Assem- bly election were felicitated by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at Patna yesterday.
Continuing that they had some informal political discussions with the party leaders too and resolved to support the BJP in Government formation, Ashab Uddin maintained that the final decision would be taken later.
