Post-poll violence continues in Jiribam, JD(U) clarifies

Jiribam, March 12 2022:
Following the declaration of results of the 12th State Assembly Election, post-poll violence has been witnessed in various parts of Jiribam district.
In one such incident, unknown miscreants burnt down the house of one Leihaorambam Projit Singh (65), s/o L Surjit Singh of Sorok Atingbi Khunou on Friday night.
The incident reportedly took place when Projit was away from home to look after his mother.
Speaking to media persons, L Projit stated that many valuable items including jewelleries, laptop, vehicle and cash of about Rs 20,000 were lost in the fire.
Stating that the fire may be poll related, he claimed that he doesn't have any enmity with anyone nor any reason to be targeted and urged all to refrain from such violent acts in the future.
It may be mentioned that similar cases of poll related incidents were reported earlier including that of Moirangthem Promen Meetei from Dibong, Ng Banitombi of Patchao, A Chandrajini Devi of Kamaranga and Komal of Kha-Khunou.
Meanwhile, JD(U) Jiribam general secretary, Th Meghajit Singh has clarified that the allegations made against the party over the assault of Imphal West BJP Minority Morcha vice president Md Sadam and his family members at his residence in Lalpani Part-II on Friday morning are baseless.
Addressing a press conference held at JD(U) office in Sonapur Part-1 on Saturday, Th Meghajit Singh stated that JD(U) strongly condemned such allegations made against the party without concrete proof.
Stating that JD(U) stands for peace and harmony between all the communities, he urged all concerned to refrain from any act of violence in the future.
