Joykisan appointed JD-U legislature party leader

Imphal, March 12 2022:
All the elected candidates of Janata Dal-United (JD-U) met party's central leaders in Patna, Bihar on Saturday.
The party leadership also appointed Khumukcham Joykisan of Thangmeiband assembly constituency as the leader of the party's legislature.
Meanwhile, central leaders of JD-U have started arriving in Imphal.
A press statement issued by JD-U national office secretary Md Nisar on Saturday informed that Joykisan has been appointed as leader of JD-U Legislature Party of Manipur during a meeting held in the presence of national general secretary and NE in-charge Afaque Ahmed Khan, northeast executive council convener Shenchumo N Lotha and national returning officer of the party Anil Hegde.
Moreover, Ngursanglur Sanate of Tipaimukh constituency has been appointed as deputy leader and Md Abdul Nasir of Lilong assembly constituency as chief whip.
It further informed that the party has decided to support the new government in the state in the larger interest of the people.
It also expressed hope that BJP will honour the decision of the party.
The six elected members of the party namely Kh Joykisan, Md Abdul Nasir, Th Arunkumar of Wangkhei, Md Ashab Uddin of Jiribam, LM Khaute of Churachandpur and Ngursanglur Sanate, who left for Patna on Friday morning, returned here on Saturday afternoon along with Afaque Ahmed and Shenchumo N Lotha.
Kh Joykisan told media per sons that the party has decided to support BJP in forming the next government.
However, JD-U will be part of the government or not depends on BJP.
At the Centre, JD-U is a partner of NDA and the party 's MPs are holding key portfolios in the Modi government.
Being a NDA partner, it is natural for JD-U to support BJP in formation of the new government, he added.
Joykisan, who earlier served as the MLA of Trinamool Congress (TMC), BJP and the Congress, joined the JD(U) in January this year after he was expelled from the grand old party (Congress).
Joykisan joined the BJP in May 2015 after Biswajit, another fellow MLA from the TMC, O Lukhoi and him were disqualified by the speaker under the tenth schedule.
All three were elected for the first time to the assembly during the 2012 polls.
Joykisan was elected on BJP symbol in the by-polls in 2015.But, he joined Congress in December 2016 citing alleged apathy of the BJP leadership towards Manipur.
