The Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS), Manipur State branch organised its 12th annual conference "MANIPSYCON 2021" at Lamphelpat, today.
"The role of social media on tackling challenges in mental health" was the theme of the annual event.
At the occasion, VC of Dhanamanjuri University N Rajmohan stated that today's topic is relevant in the contemporary world as social media is now used widely for social interaction and access to news.
He exuded confidence that the resolutions taken during the conference would benefit the people greatly.
President of IPS State branch Dr S Manikanta stated the unprecedented poll related violence seen in the State was greatly influenced by social media.
Saying that misusing social media can mislead the people and create animosity among the masses, Dr Manikanta continued that media houses and social media users should be careful while uploading posts or contents.
As a part of the programme, many resource persons spoke on "Social media and mental health: A psychological perspective", "Social media and mental health: Benefit and risk" and "Positive impact of social media on adults and seniors" .
