PTRC secure top position after thriller against CYCLONE; Model, CHAMP pick up victories

PTRC Patsoi Part IV have secured the top position of the 7th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament points table with a thrilling 4 runs win over CYCLONE Thangmeiband today at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
Batting first in the closely contested match, PTRC set a target of 171/8 in the 35 overs match while CYCLONE hit 166/6 in the chase.
Ngariyanbam Johnson Singh was the highest scorer of PTRC as he knocked 63 runs off 83 deliveries while other top scorers included Jotin Singh Pheiroijam (28 runs off 31 balls), Chingakham Bidash Meitei (27 runs off 14 balls) and RK Rex Singh (unbeaten 27 off 29 balls) .
In the innings, CYCLONE's Loktongbam Santosh Meitei took four wickets with an economy of 5.14 in seven overs.
The Thangmeiband side was only four runs short of taking home the win as they managed to score 166 in 35 overs with maximum runs coming from middle order Kishan Laishram who smashed 71 runs off 71 deliveries.

The wicket takers of the winning side were Jotin Singh Pheiroijam (2 wkts), Bishworjit Singh Konthoujam (1 wkt), Chingakham Bidash Meitei (1 wkt) and Khaidem Joyraj Meitei (1 wkt) .
Jotin Singh of PTRC was declared man of the match.
Model Chingamakha and CHAMP Cricket Club Khagempalli also picked up wins in other matches of the tournament staged today.
While Model beat REYS Khwai Nagamapal Lamabam Leikai by eight wickets at Model Higher Secondary & Oriental College Ground, CHAMP sealed a 4 wicket win over SCCC Singjamei Thongam Leikai at Public Ground, Khangabok Part III Cherapur.

SCCC which opted to bat first were bundled out for 92 in 29.5 overs while CHAMP completed the chase in 25.2 overs.
Only two batsmen of SCCC scored double digit runs and they were Oinam Pradeep (19 runs off 34 balls) and Ulenyai Khwairakpam (18 runs off 25 balls) .
The wicket takers of CHAMP, on the other hand, were Lairenjam Ansh Singh (3 wkts), Md Sultan Karim (2 wkts), Nitesh Sendai (1 wkt), Thingbaijam Nicholson Singh (2 wkts) and Najarul Islam (2 wkts) .
CHAMP completed the chase in 25.2 overs (93/6) as Md Sultan displayed his batting prowess, hitting unbeaten 42 runs off 55 deliveries.
He was declared man of the match.
REYS vs Model
Model beat REYS by eight wickets in the last match of the day.
Model chose to field first and they dismissed all wickets of their opponent in 18.5 overs with 92 runs target.
REYS performed poorly in the first innings as the majority of their batsmen couldn't accumulate runs for the team.
The highest scorers Naoshekpam Manglemba Meitei and Alfred Hmar also hit only 15 runs each.
At least four batsmen of REYS got run out.
Dibak Naorem and Somorjit Salam of Model dismissed two wickets each while team-mates Sunil Salam and Loukrakpam Superjit Singh fell on each.
Robertson Singh Laishram knocked unbeaten 55 runs off 58 balls in the chase and he was declared man of the match.
Model hit 95/2 in the chase.
