Elite cricket: Leaders PTRC beat CYCLONE to stay four points clear

PTRC overcame CYCLONE by four runs to stay four points deafat the top of MNCA Elite Tournament point table on Thursday.
Asked to bat first, PTRC got 170/8 in 35 overs as Ngariyanbam Johnson led from the front scoring 63, with Jotin Pheiroijam (28) Chingakham Bidash (27) and Rajkumar Rex (27) making decent contributions.
In the process, four of PTRC's wickets fell prey to L Santosh while two got dismissed by Kishan L, and one each by K Homendro and M Raju.
PTRC then produced a disciplined bowling display to make sure that CYCLONE came out short in their run chase managing 166/6 in 35 overs as Kishan Laishram's 71 went in vain.
Aditya (28) and Bikash Singh (22) were other key batters in the chase.
In PTRC's attack, Jotin picked up two wickets and Bishworjit Konthoujam, Chingakham Bidash and Khaidem Joyraj took one each.
With their ninth win at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium on Thursday, PTRC stayed four points clear at the top of the table with 19 points from their 10 matches.
Jotin Pheiroijam took home the man of the match trophy for his two scalps and 28 runs.
Meanwhile, second-placed CHAMP beat SCCC by four wickets at Cherapur, Thoubal.
The Khagempalli side bundled out SCCC for 92 in 29.5 overs and chased downed the target in 25.2 overs.
Lairenjam Ansh led the lethal bowling attack racking up three wickets as Md Sultan Karim, Thingbaijam Nicholson and Najarul Islam claimed two apiece, with Nitesh Sedai accounting for one.
After their sublime bowling performance, CHAMP overhauled the target in 29.5 overs for the loss of six wickets.
Sultan Karim (.42 not out) and Lairenjam Ansh (15 not out) guided their side to a convincing four wicket triumph.
For SCCC, Rakeshwor Republic turned out to the chief destroyer with an impressive haul of five wickets in a losing a cause.
Sultan Karim, who look two wickets and scored an unbeaten 42, was adjudged the man of the match.
The win kept CHAMP at the second place on 15 points from nine matches.
At Oriental College, MODEL thumped REYS by eight wickets.
REYS had a torrid innings riddled with three run outs as they were skittled out for 91 in 18.5 overs.
For MODEL, Somorjit Salam and Bibak Naorem snapped two wickets each while Sunil Salam and L Superjit Singh got one each.
MODEL then knocked off the runs in 16.5 overs with the help of man-of-the-match Robertson Laishram (55 not out), Langlongyamba M (24) and Bipinkumar Langpoklakpam (6 not out) .
MODEL overtook Al-Ameen in the sixth place of the standings with nine points from their nine games.
