Churachandpur, March 23 2023:
The Young Paite Association (YPA), Mata unit celebrated its 53rd Foundation Day at Mata community hall with Churachandpur MLA LM Khaute as chief guest and Thanlon MLA Vungzagin Valte as guest of honour.
During the celebration, LM Khaute said that Churachandpur town locally known as Lamka is a cosmopolitan town where people from different areas settle and are familiar with each other's languages.
Churachandpur constituency has the largest number of voters in the state with more than 64,000 but the ongoing delimitation exercise is considering creation of new MDC constituencies, New Lamka East and West.
The matter has been put up to the knowledge of the chief minister and once the delimitation exercise is completed, notification shall be issued for ADC elections, he added.
MLA Khaute also recalled his past association with Thanlon MLA Vungzagin Valte and activities he took up for the Zomi people during his stint as DGP.
About the recent social media post which went viral after a landowners' association put up a board and put him in wrong light, LM Khaute said that it was a cyber-crime and urged SP Churachandpur to look into the matter as it has no connection with his attendance at the felicitation programme at Khumujamba Leikai.
He then urged all concerned to shun from indulging in such cyber-crime.
In his speech, Vungzagin Valte said that it was due to his personal initiative that an FCI warehouse in Churachandpur district has become a reality and stopped the practice of deducting 20 per cent from the Churachandpur rice quota.
He said that six MLAs of Churachandpur district have jointly been fighting against this injustice.
