CM, army, AR officials review security

After his recent disclosure about involvement of people from neighbouring Myanmar in large scale poppy plantation and drug business in Manipur, chief minister N Biren discussed security scenario in the state with GOC 3 Corps Lt Gen HS Sahi and IGAR(S) Maj Gen Rajan Sharawat.
The meeting held at the CM's secretariat on Thursday morning was also attended by top officials of Assam Rifles and other security agencies.
CM Biren apprised the security officials about steps being taken up by the state government under its 'War on Drugs' mission as also involvement of many people from neighbouring Myanmar in poppy plantation in the state after mass deforestation.
The CM also informed top security officials about use of foreign made motorcycles brought from Myanmar in drug transportation in the state.
He then sought help from Assam Rifles Operating in the state in anti drug activities being taken up by the state forces like police, IRB and MR.He then pointed out to the top security officials about the need to strengthen vigil along the international border to prevent anti national activities.
General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Corps, Lieutenant General HS Sahi also called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan, here, on Thursday.
In the first meeting after assuming office as GOC, Lieutenant General Sahi briefed the Governor about the prevailing security situation in North East especially in Manipur.
He also informed the Governor about the security preparedness of the the army to face any eventuality at any point of time.
During the meeting, the GOC was accompanied by IGAR (South) Major General Rajan Sharawat.
