CRPF inter weightlifting competition ends

An Inter GCs (Adm)/Bns (OPS) Weight Lifting competition organised by 109 Bn CRPF, Mongsangei, Imphal under the aegis of IGP, M&N Sector CRPF, concluded on Sunday (May 8).The competition was held at Sports Authority of India (SAI) Indoor Stadium, Imphal.
The closing ceremony of weightlifting tournament was attended DK Tripathi, DIG M&N Sector CRPF, as chief guest.
Also present were Suresh Sharma, DIG M&N Sector.
CRPF, Francis Marwein, regional director SAI, Bal Krishna Ram, commandant, Manoj Kumar Sharma, commandant, Bajrang Lal, commandant, Dr Phaomel Kirongkhon, CMO, Sandeep, 2-I/C, Manoj, deputy commandant, Vinod Sawant, deputy commandant, L Ibomcha Singh, asstt commandant, Abonmai Kaipou, asstt commandant, Alex L Kophom, asstt commandant, 109 Bn subordinate officers and other ranks.
Nine teams consisting of 32, 69, 86, 78, 87, 109, 143, 173 CRPF Battalions and GC deployed in Manipur and Nagaland participated in the tournament.
109 Bn CRPF team was declared winner and 173 Bn CRPF as runner-up, while the best weightlifter trophy was bagged by CT/GD Sheedha of 173 Bn CRPF.
A Ranjan Singh, senior coach SAI, jury member and referees of Manipur Weightlifting Association judged the tournament.
Earlier on May 7, the weightlifting tournament was declared open by Nan-sita Devi, gold medallist in weightlifting in Commonwealth Games and who is presently serving in GC, CRPF Imphal as deputy commandant, in the presence of Laimenthang, director SAI Imphal, Madahav, addl director SAI Imphal, Bal Krishna Ram, commandant 109 Bn, CRPF, Bajrang Lal, commandant 69 Bn CRPF, and mem bers of Manipur Weightlifting Association along with other dignitaries.
Mementos and Lengyan phi (shawl) were presented to them.
Speaking on the occasion, weightlifter Nansita Devi exhorted the players to play the game in the true spirit of the game and said that such tournament would not only build up team spirit but also make one fit and healthy, a press release from 109 BN, CRPF said.
