State's birth sex ratio reaches 965.2 in 2021-22

Directorate of Family Welfare has reported that Manipur's birth sex ratio reached 965.2 female per 1000 male in the year 2021-22.According to additional director (family welfare) Dr N Dihe Mao, the Civil Registration System-2020 report listing Manipur as lowest birth sex ratio ait 880 female per 1000 male was erroneous.
Health Management Information System serves as government to government web based monitoring system and its 2021-22 report put Manipur's birth sex ratio at 965.2 female per 1000 male.
This information is being provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Dihe said in a statement.
According to Dr Dihe's statement, child sex ratio of Manipur was 953.99 female per 1000 male in the year 2020-21 and report of decreasing child sex ratio in the state based on a data provided by an individual was even discussed in the state assembly.
As per report of Health Management Information System, a total of 20,609 children were bom in the state as on April 28 this year.
Among them, 159 children were registered in Bishnupur district with sex ratio of 1178.8 while Chandel district registered 410 children with sex ratio of 990.29.Churachandpur district registered a total of 2627 children with sex ratio of 964.85, Imphal East district 2754 with sex ratio of 955.97, Imphal West district 6903 children with sex ratio of 1012, Jiribam 47 children with sex ratio of 566.67, Kakching district 113 children with sex ratio of 738.46 and Kamjong district registered 132 children with sex ratio of 692.31.Number of children registered and respective sex ratio of the remaining districts are Kangpokpi 952 (911.65 sex ratio), Noney 307 (967.95), Pherzawl 128 (802.82), Senapati 3008 (900.06), Tamenglong 592 (934.64), Tengnoupal 171 (1085.37), Thoubal 1161 (912.69) and Ukhrul registered 1149 children with sex ratio of 1055.46.Mention may be made that Civil Registration System-2020 report based on vital statistics mentioned that Manipur had lowest sex ratio at birth among Union Territories and states of the country.
The report also mentioned that Manipur's birth sex ratio was 880 female per 1000 male and that Union Territory of Ladakh recorded the highest sex ratio at birth in the country in 2020 followed by Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tripura and Kerala.
