Cleanliness drive conducted at Langol

Wangdei Meetei Leikai Devel opment Committee, Langol oil Sunday conducted a cleanliness drive at the locality where settlement started since May 8, 1990 .
In a release.
Committee secretary Ksh Somorendro said that Wangdei Meetei Leikai is a village setup in 1990 so as to facilitate settlement of Meeteis married to Naga women of Nagaland.
The area used to be a farm owned by one Salam Inaocha of Naoremtheng Laishram Leikai but he handed over the same to the Committee and since then around 35 families have started to settle.
Among others, he informed that the Education Department's ZEO Zone - I upheld the Committee's request and established a school under SSA so as to ensure education to the students of the area.
However, regular classes could not be conducted for the last two years due to Covid-19 pandemic and as such in consultation with the ZEO, the social service was conducted around the school area to resume normal classes, Somorendro maintained.
Further informing that the village is preserving Meetei culture and identity, he said Nagaland women belonging to Ao, Angami, Sema, etc., tribes along with their Meetei spouses are among the residents, thus making it a village promoting integrity and communal harmony.
