JCCWB seizes five bird nets

Kakching, May 09 2022:
Members of Joint Coordination Committee on Wildlife and Biodiversity (JCCWB) Manipur on Monday recovered five bird nets along with electrical devices used in catching fish from Loukhongpat and Sangaiyumpham areas of Thoubal district.
During the drive, the JCCWB members were accompanied by Wangbal police out post team led by head constable K Ibotombi along with members of Tree Planters Organisation for Save Environment (TPOSE), Heirok and United Goodwill Mission Manipur.
Speaking in connection with the drive, JCCWB convener Romesh Ningthoujam appealed to the public to stop poaching wild birds as it will have adversely affect environment including increase diseases in agricultural crops.
He also asserted that the Committee will sustain the drive and strive to get the culprits punished under the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 and other relevant laws.
