Imphal, September 06 2026: Manipur State Council, All India Youth Federation (MSC-AIYF) has strongly condemned the recent notification of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India stating that only house listing has been deferred for Census 2027 in Manipur.

Addressing media persons at Irawat Bhawan, Rupmahal Tank today, MSC-AIYF president Khwairakpam Ramananda said the notification has hurt the sentiments of Manipur people.

He questioned whether the Centre considers the people of Manipur as second class citizens.

Ramananda said people have been staging protests against holding census when many displaced due to the violence since May 3, 2023 are yet to return home, and the notification that only house listing is deferred is an insult to the people.

He warned Manipur is heading towards complete disintegration if such attitude continues.
