2nd MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament : PCC, RCA stroll into semis with comfortable victories

PCC, Mayai Koibi and RCA, Lilong registered easy quarter final victories today to seal their semi-final tickets in the ongoing 2nd MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament.
At their home ground, Group B runners up PCC overwhelmed Group A winners ESU by 61 runs courtesy of Lucky Thokchom's half century knock and Lamnganba's fifer.
PCC were all out for 188 runs in 25 overs with Lucky hitting 8 fours and 3 sixes on the way to his 34-ball 51, Dilshan smacking 4 fours and 2 sixes in his knock of 34-ball 33 and 52 extras.

Hanjabam Donba led ESU bowling attack from the front and fetched highest three wickets for 46 runs as Thokchom Simesh, Soibam Sayonba and Nandeibam Salainganba shared two wickets apiece.
The 189 run target however proved big for ESU as they were bundled out for just 127 runs in 16.4 overs.
Hanjabam Donba (23) and Soibam Sayonba (44) gave ESU a frollicking start by putting on 71 runs in 5.2 overs for the first wicket but their departures marked the turning point for them with Lamnganba who opened his account by trapping Sayonba lbw grabbed four more wickets to set up their collapse.
Lamnganba returned with the best bowling figures of 5 for 19 in his spell of 5 overs which included a maiden and was deservingly adjudged man of the match.
Pebam Yoimayai also chipped in with two wickets including the last over to end with the figures of 2/10 in 1.4 overs.
Elsewhere at PTRC Ground, Group B winners RCA beat Group A runners up PTCC by 191 runs after amassing a huge total of 322 runs for all wickets down in allotted 30 overs.
RCA who won the toss and elected to bat first were dealt with an early blow losing two wickets within 2.2 overs and were further reduced to 79 for 3 in 9 overs.
Md Samir however paired up well with Zoned (74 off 40, 7 fours and 5 sixes) to script a 160-run fourth wicket partnership before he was bowled out by Roneljit Ayekpam for 104 runs (off 60 balls, 13 fours and 5 sixes) .
PTCC also conceded as many as 81 extras to help RCA put up a commanding total.
Dhirendrakishore Naorem, Somobanta and Roneljit Ayekpam were able to claim two wickets each in this innings.
Chasing the big total, PTCC were never in contention and succumbed to the varied bowling attack of RCA whose Farhan Ahmed ended with the best figures of 2/23 as his six other batters finished with a wicket apiece.
Md Samir who hit a ton for RCA was adjudged man of the match.
Tomorrow, TRAU will play TCMDC in the third quarter final match tomorrow at PCC ground while AKSDO will play YUCC in the last quarter final match at PTRC Ground.
