Imphal, April 24 2023:
Despite Chief Minister N Biren Singh asserting that there is no dissatisfaction amongst the BJP MLAs of the state government, BJP MLAs are continuing to resign from their administrative posts one-by-one.
After Heirok MLA Thokchom Radheshyam, Langthabal's Karam Shyam and Wangjing Tentha MLA Paonam Brojen resigned from their respective posts, Uripok MLA Khwairakpam Raghumani informed the chief minister in writing that he was resigning from his post as chairman of Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) on Monday.
The resignation letter submitted by Raghumani stated that he was resigning from the post for personal reasons and also in the public interest.
Meanwhile, the MLAs who have resigned from their respective posts till date, have each released a video on social media explaining the main reasons for their resignation to the public.
However, Raghumani is yet to release or post any such video on any social media platform.
As of now, the real motive behind the back-to-back resignations of BJP MLAs and any possible changes in the CM Bi ren-led state government is yet to be known.
The government is formed by the coalition of 32 BJP MLAs, others from various political parties and independent MLAs, making it a total of 55 MLAs.
The present situation, however, best suites the scenario of politics being unpredictable at times.
According to a source, the state's BJP MLAs, currently camping in Delhi, reportedly held a meeting on Monday night.
However, what transpired during the meeting has not been disclosed to the media.
In their social media posts, MLAs Thokchom Radheshyam, Karam Shyam and Paonam Bro-jen had stated that they were compelled to resign from their posts as they were unable to properly take up development works in their respective constituencies and non-clearance of funds for projects/works taken up in the constituencies in accordance to the instructions of the chief minister.
These had forced the MLAs to stay away from their homes and instead, hide outside the state.
