Assam Rifles holds anti-drug, interaction programmes

Churachandpur Battalion Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) organised a lecture against Drug Abuse for youth of Hengkot village of Churachandpur on Monday to motivate the youth and educate them about the ill effects of drug abuse.
The lecture also highlighted the importance of yoga and sports to fight against drug abuse, said a PRO IGAR (S) release, adding that the participants were motivated to indulge in sports and fitness activities to improve their lifestyle and were also made aware about various rehabilitation schemes launched by the government to assist in detoxification and Nasha Mukti.
Meanwhile, Phundrei Battalion of IGAR (South) organised an interaction with meira paibi members of Waikhong and nearby villages on the eve of Lai Haraoba Festival.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the interaction was aimed to create awareness regarding the importance of fighting against the drug menace and providing good education to women and girls in order to achieve holistic development in the society.
