Addressing a press conference today, Y Mangi Singh, president MHGEWA stated that the association has been making a number of appeals to the Government for the welfare of Home Guard personnel.
He shared that after repeated appeals, the DGP of Manipur Police had given the approval to make proper service norms & rules for Home Guard personnel including promotion criteria and rectification of unpaid ranks.
He continued that following an order issued by the Secretary Home, Th Charanjeet on March 16 to make a seniority list for promotion of Home Guard personnel at the earliest, the DGP who is also the Commandant General of Home Guard had directed the COs of the Home Guard battalions to submit the relevant documents within March 27 .
Claiming that the COs have failed to comply with the directives of the DGP, Y Mangi urged the authorities concerned to immediately suspend the COs and take legal action against them for ignoring the directives of senior officers and not considering the plights of Home Guard personnel who have been suffering for so long.
