Dr Lorho launches model village at Keize

Under the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) programme, Outer Manipur Member of Parliament Dr Lorho S Pfoze launched a Model Village at Keize village in Senapati district during a function jointly organised by Senapati district administration and Keize village authority, on Monday.
SAGY is a rural development programme focusing on development in the villages centred on social and cultural uplift and to motivate the people on social mobilization of the village community.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, Dr Lorho S Pfoze expressed happiness on seeing changes taking place in the village after his last visit some 20 years ago.
Having introduced as a Model village in the district, the MP hoped to see different developmental projects and schemes implemented in the village through consultations with different departments under the district administration.
With Keize village adopted as the 17th model village in Senapati district, the MP expressed his desire to see some 20 villages in the state adopted as Model villages.
After being adopted as a Model village, people should not rely on the government to bring the much needed changes, but should contribute their mite towards bringing the required changes in a region, as change in attitude brings development, the MP said.
Stating that discipline, cleanliness and development are the responsibility of everyone, Dr Lorho maintained that change of attitude among villagers can bring a changed society.
DRDA APO Ramsingam Gonmei, who was also present at the event, urged the villagers to act as model parents of the model village.
He said that the SAGY program was launched by the Prime Minister to improve health sector, education, uplift of eco-Socio development in the village in terms of modernised village for self-sufficiency, animal husbandry, electrification, better connectivity, water supply, child welfare and social welfare.
Earlier, while delivering the welcome speech of the function, retired AE M Saluni expressed gratitude to the MP for adopting the village as a Model village.
He also sought cooperation from the villagers in the activities of the line departments.
