Foundation laid for Five-Star hotel in state

Chief Minister N Biren Singh laid the foundation stone for construction of a Luxury 5-Star Hotel by Classic Group of Hotels in a function held at the Sangai Conference Hall of Hotel Imphal by the Classic, here, on Monday.
The 70-80 room Hotel will be constructed under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model at Kabo Leikai and targeted for completion in two-and-half years, in time for the Sangai Festival 2025 .
Congratulating the Classic Group of Hotels on their new venture, CM Biren stated that Manipur is a state with a lot of potentials which could be developed well.
He also acknowledged that the Babi-na Group had brought many significant changes in the last few years.
While pointing out that Manipur has hosted various national and international events with many visitors coming from outside, he conceded that the state government was earlier worried about the accommodation of the visitors.
However, it is appreciable that the Classic Group provided comfortable accommodation to the visitors, the CM said, adding that the visitors appreciated the hospitality service provided by the Classic Group.
Biren then stressed the need for cooperation and support of one another for harnessing the potentials of the state.
He also expressed happiness that people of the state have started appreciating the good work of others and added that with proper coordination, Manipur is progressing forward and able to make a mark in the South East Asian circle.
He expressed gratitude for the people's support towards the development initiatives of the state government, stating that this is the right time for development.
"People now have the courage to discern right from wrong and state the same clearly," he remarked.
Conveying the delight of the union sports ministers in seeing the Olympian Park in Manipur, the CM remarked that the road to becoming an Olympian is no easy feat and as such, the park has been constructed in recognition and honour of the hard work and efforts put in by the Olympians who have brought glory to the state.
Taking to Twitter, CM Biren said: "Pleased to lay the foundation stone for a luxury 5-Star Hotel developed under PPP mode at Hotel Imphal, Kabo Leikai today" .
He further said that with such world-class accommodation facilities, the tourism sector in the state will get a significant boost.
Manipur is already emerging as a top destination in the Northeast in terms of attracting the most foreign tourists, the , chief minister added.
Babina Group chairman and managing director Dr Th Dhabali Singh made a short presentation on the demand and supply analysis of hotel rooms in Imphal.
A presentation was also made on the upcoming luxury 5-star hotel.
MAHUD minister Yumnam Khemchand; Textiles, Commerce and Industry minister Nemcha Kipgen, Health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan, Public Health Engineering minister Leishangthem Susindro Meitei, Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation chairman Khongbantabam Ibomcha, Manipur Electronics Development Corporation chairman S Kunjakeswor, Sagolband MLA RK Imo, Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar, Lilong MLA Md Abdul Nasir, Moirang MLA Thongam Shanti, Kumbi MLA Sanasam Premchandra, chief secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, commissioner (Tourism) PK Jha, officials of state government and staff of Classic Group of Hotels also attended the programme among others.
At present, Manipur has one four-star hotel namely Classic Grande at Chingmeirong, which is managed by the Classic Group of Hotels, a member of Radisson Individuals.
