Imphal, March 30 2022:
MoS of External Affairs Dr RK Ranjan Singh has written to the Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw to explore feasibility of using the current railway line (Guwahati-Lumding-Silchar-Khongsang) for supply of essential commodities to ease the shortage created by the indefinite blockade of Imphal-Dimapur highway.
Dr RK Ranjan informed the Union Minister that NH-2 and NH-53 are lifelines of the State but NH-2 which enters Manipur from Nagaland is the preferred route for transporters.
However the said highway has been blocked by Nagaland based local organisations which has resulted in complete stoppage of transport vehicles coming in from this highway creating acute shortage of essential commodities in the State.
