ZUF denounces abduction of driver

Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has expressed anger over the abduction of a driver of a company allegedly by Nagaland-based NSCN (NK) near Reangkiakiulong village on March 22.In a release, ZUF said that the incident is posing a threat to company workers, contractors and general public and called for immediate unconditional release of the abducted driver.
"The NSCN (NK), Nagaland based faction wilfully collecting taxes and kidnapping for ransom or operating outside their covered areas is unscrupulous and unacceptable.
The high command of the said group is informed to take care of the cadres to be confined within its respective area and to respect each other's jurisdiction.
The group will be held responsible for any untoward eventuality if it fails to do so.
This notification is first and final, served as a precautionary measure", the Front warned.
ZUF is also enraged by the report that some cadres of the Nagaland-based group are impersonating as ZUF cadres and collecting money and intimidating the public and company workers in some "strategic areas" in Tamenglong district.
"The fact has provoked and compelled the concerned Front to dig and root out the miscreants without further warning.
Any faction or group based in the state of Nagaland, infiltrating in the concerned jurisdiction shall not be tolerated.
Public and all concerned villages and area authorities are informed not to give any sort of taxes or collection to those infiltrators.
Any information related to such activities should be informed to the concerned authority of the Front immediately", it cautioned.
ZUF also informed the public, village authorities concerned and CSOs to raise their voice against such "activities being wilfully committed in the Zeliangrong areas" and appealed "to cooperate with the Front in dealing and safeguarding the interest, safety and security of the people" .
