Water supply to be affected

Imphal, March 15 2022:
The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has notified that water supply will be done for every two day to the consumers in the area of Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) Ward numbers 14 and parts of 15, 16 and 17 .
The above step has been taken up in view of drying up of the Imphal and Iril rivers, Water Treatment Plants (WTP) at Chinga and Moirangkhom are unable to produce the optimum quantity of treated water thereby affecting normal pipe water supply, said a notification by Ksh Tombi Singh, Executive Engineer, Water Supply Project Construction Division, PHED Manipur.
The notification further informed that pipe water supply to Langol Reservoirs Zone I/II/III, CAU, Naoremthong, Uripok, Lalambung, Lamphel, Thangmeiband, RIMS etc will be affected due to drastic reduction of water level at Singda Dam and Singda WTP.
In this regard, the authorities concerned of the Water Resource Department to clear the obstructions that hinders the natural flow of Imphal and Iril rivers to enable tap the available raw water in the interest of public water supply.
Also the general public/consumers under the above WTPs have been requested to use water judiciously and to bear with it until the arrival of monsoon.
