Imphal, March 15 2022:
The people of Lamsang AC have demanded MLA of the AC Sorokhaibam Rajen to tender an apology for his statement asserting that those who voted for NPP in the recently concluded State Assembly polls will have no rights to Government benefits for the next 5 years.
The demand for an apology was made during a public meeting organised today at Lamdeng where the people of Lamsang AC and NPP candidate Pukhrambam Sumati and other leaders of Lamsang NPP Block gathered to discuss the MLA elect's statement.
The gathered people alleged that they had been denied from receiving their share of rice under NFSA by the distributing agent simply because they had voted for the NPP.
They also condemned S Rajen's statement calling it undemocratic and a far cry from how an educated legislator ought to act and speak.
Further, they demanded the MLA to tender an apology before March 20 .
Speaking to media persons, NPP candidate of Lamsang AC Pukhrambam Sumati stated that S Rajen's conduct was not befitting a political leader and MLA of his stature.
She added that only an individual with no understanding of democracy would say such a thing.
She urged the people to not be distressed by the MLA's statement saying that appeals can be made to relevant authorities in this regard.
Further, she pleaded for the people's support in giving a taste of defeat to unworthy candidates.
