Imphal, March 15 2022: Manipur's caretaker Chief Minister N Biren Singh, former Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh and State BJP chief A Sharda Devi left for New Delhi on Tuesday ahead of the formation of the new Government in the State.

According to sources from the BJP, they will meet Central party leaders and discuss important details regarding formation of the new Government and choosing of the next Chief Minister of Manipur.

Sources further informed that the newly-appointed party's Central observers and co-observers, Union Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju, are likely to arrive in the State on March 16 .

On Monday, Biren Singh had said a meeting to elect the leader of the BJP's legislature party will be convened after the arrival of the Central observers in the State.

The formation of the new Government has been delayed since it needs to follow the formalities, Singh said after the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected 60 members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly in Imphal.

Till late into the evening, it was not yet clear how the meeting with the Central leaders went.

A source from within the BJP said that the State BJP leaders have been summoned to Delhi to 'review' the performance of the BJP in the recent election as well as the arrangements for Government that have already been made.

On the other hand another source said that the summon is primarily to 'interview' the State BJP leaders on issues surrounding the next Chief Minister of Manipur.

Even as nothing is clear as yet, rumours and talks are doing the round in social media.

On the other hand, reports of deepening uncer- tainty and internal rift in the party over who would be the new Chief Minister has been denied by the BJP party leaders.

Too much circulation (of rumours) are happening across all sections of social media.

But there is no such internal rift in the party when it comes to choosing the next Chief Minister, said Sagolband MLA RK Imo Singh, who is also the son-in-law of Biren Singh.

I think our honourable Chief Minister will be taking over very soon, in a couple of days, he added.

With a win of 32 seats in the State Assembly elections, the BJP is all set to form the second successive Government in Manipur.

The NPP is the second biggest party in the Assembly with 7 MLAs, followed by the JD (U) with 6 and the NPF with 5 .

N Biren Singh had earlier proclaimed that the BJP will go along with the NPF in the next Government while severing ties with the NPP.

NPP National president Conrad Sangma had earlier stated that the ball is now in the court of the BJP and they have to take the call.
