Kamjong-Konkan Thana road work nears completion

Imphal, March 15 2022:
Construction of Kamjong-Konkan Thana Road which has the potential to become a key road for Indo-Myanmar border trade is nearing completion.
The road is being constructed by BIPL under the State PWD with funds sanctioned by the North Eastern Council (NEC) .
Sources informed that the road construction work is a project of Rs 107.39 crore.
The road was lying in pathetic condition when BIPL started rehabilitation and upgradation work in February 2020 .
Major portions of the road construction work have been completed and the project is likely to be fully completed by April, according to the sources.
Local villagers, impressed by the improved condition of the road, have already started circulating photographs and video clips of the road in social media.
Many villagers have expressed hope that the Kamjong-Konkan Thana road can play a key role in expanding Indo-Myanmar border trade under the Government of India's Act East Policy.
