Staff of Kakching Range released one rescued flying squirrel to a safe habitat today.
The mammal was rescued by one Kshetrimayum Ranjan from his house near Kakching Garden.
Speaking to media persons after releasing the rescued flying squirrel, ACF N Munal Meitei stated that wild birds and animals are increasingly being sighted in human habitations due to rapid deforestation, climate change and certain other factors.
He urged the people to inform the Forest Department if wild animals are sighted in human habitations, N Munal informed.
Flying squirrel is a primitive mammal that can glide for about 300 feets.
