Imphal, October 09 2021:
Referring to media reports which were based on the alleged report prepared by the IO of the case, family members of the late A Bimolchandra have asserted that it is more than clear that he was not killed in a physical confrontation with another Rifleman Thonginthang Baite but was shot dead by the latter on October 1 .
Both were detailed as security escorts of State BJP president A Sharda Devi.
Family members of the deceased Rifleman alleged that if there had been a confrontation between the two then there could have been other tell tale signs.
It was a case of Thonginthang Baite shooting Bimolchandra to death and nothing else, they contended and asked how the IO gathered the information that on the fateful day, Thonginthang had pulled his AK Rifle and threatened that he would open blank fire? The bullets which killed Bimolchandra were found inside the room and the trunks were also found damaged.
If it was a brawl the nature of injury would have been different they alleged and added that Bimolchandra could have been injured in other parts of the body too.
The family members further alleged that as soon as they received the news they rushed to Porompat police station where they met the second OC.
There they were told by the second OC that all the escort parties were dead drunk and were not in a position to give statements, except for one personnel who was not, further said the family members.
Then how come did the report of IO mention that only Bimolchandra and Thonginthang had drinks together ? they questioned.
There is no guarantee that other personnel could not be involved in the killing of Bimolchandra, alleged the family members.
The family members then urged the Government to hand over the case to the CID so that no misgivings arise.
