Imphal, October 09 2021:
Federation of Haomee has demanded the Government to return the agricultural land procured by the State for the establishment of a Sports University at Yaithibi Loukon to their rightful owners, the farmers.
A press release issued by Federation of Haomee today has stated that the spot for building the Sports University has been officially shifted to Koutruk in Imphal West.
As such, the farmers of Yaithibi Loukon have been demanding for their land to be returned but there has been an attempt by individuals to build a mega food park in its place which goes directly against the farmers' demand, the press release added.
Federation of Haomee also exhorted Chief Minister N Biren Singh to scrutinize this matter in view of the Manipur Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Act, 2014.The total percentage of land under cultivation in the valley area is only 3%, their statement continued, and attempts to encroach upon this tiny area cannot be accepted as just another step in the process of development.
Thus, Federation of Haomee has appealed to the concerned authority to save Yaithibi Loukon and return the land in question to the farmers.
