MU hosts Korean Alphabet Day

Minister of Korean Embassy in India Yong Soo Lee has said that the embassy will try to provide jobs to students who have completed Korean study.
Speaking at the launch of Korean Corner and Korean Alphabet Day (Hangeul day) celebration held at Manipur University on Saturday with MU Department of Foreign Language as the hosts, Yong Soo Lee informed that Hangeul Day is an important event for the Koreans.
The celebration has been playing a vital role in preserving Korea's identity and showing Korean culture to the world.
Moreover, the opening of Korean Corner will motivate those who want to learn Korean language and culture in the state, he maintained, while assuring of providing all possible help from the Korean government in the future.
Meanwhile, MU Registrar Prof W Chandbabu highlighted the need to know and understand the language and culture of different countries by the people of Manipur in this rapidly changing world.
Specially, in order to face the changes likely to take place in Manipur because of Act East policy and connecting with South East Asian countries, Manipuri people should learn more languages, he said and revealed that the university is preparing to provide the opportunity of learning different languages.
The programme was attended by Army Attache Korean Embassy India lieutenant colonel Hyun Soon Kim, Korean Embassy, India secretary Yeonsoo Kang, Kosme director Seok Chan Park, Korean Embassy India political researcher Anna Kim, MU Dean of Humanities Prof N Aruna Devi, Department of Foreign Language MU HOD in-charge S Imoba and MU registrar W Chandbabu among others.
