VDVK a boon for local economy: MLA Khashim

Maintaining that Van Dhan Vikas Kendra is, a good platform to accelerate economic development, Chingai MLA Khashim Vashum has urged all SHGs under VDVK scheme to make sincere efforts to become a successful business each.
He was speaking as chief guest of a one-day Advocacy Programme of Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) under TRIFED, Government of India, held at Town Hall, Phungreitang on Friday.
It was organised by the Ukhrul Forest Division, Forest Department, Manipur.
"Van Dhan scheme is a good platform to help you become a successful enterprise each.
The Government is giving requisite support to help tribal business grow.
So, try to get the best out of such opportunity," MLA Khashim exhorted the 37 SHG teams during the programme.
He said that if the SHGs could make sincere endeavour, they would be able to establish their brand name under the Van Dhan project.
And this will naturally bring in improvement in the local economy," he noted.
The MLA also provided an incentive of Rs 2000 each to all the SHGs in a gesture of support.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Forest Office, Ukhrul, the implementing agency, distributed requisite tools and equipment, along with Rs 5000 each to all the SHGs to enable them to start operating their businesses.
Ukhrul DC Krishna Kumar, SP Saujanya Singh, DFO Shanngam Shaliwo among others attended the programme.
