BJP core committee rules out pre-poll alliance

BJP national president JP Nadda, who arrived here on Saturday, chaired a meeting of BJP core committee at Hotel Classic Grande, Chingmeirong in the evening and discussed various issues related to the upcoming 2022 assembly elections.
According to a key member of BJP Manipur Pradesh; the meeting, which began from 6 pm, discussed issues like pre and post poll alliance, selection of candidates, campaign strategies and other key issues of the state.
Chief minister N Biren, BJP state president A Sharda, union ministers Dr RK Ranjan, Pratima Bhowmik, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, BJP leaders Ajay Jamwal, Sambit Patra, Abhay Kumar Giri, works minister Th Biswajit, Govindas Konthoujam, V Hangkhanlian and former BJP state president Th Chaoba were among others who attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed fielding of candidates in all the assembly constituencies.
While ruling out pre poll alliance with any of the NEDA or NDA partners, the meet discussed possibilities of forming post poll alliance based on the election results.
It then entrusted the core committee to take up necessary steps to finalist candidates for all the 60 ACs.
The meeting also discussed campaign strategies including highlighting of key achievements of the BJP government which could be promoted during the poll campaign.
JP Nadda also discussed issues besetting party MLAs and their aspirations from the government during the meeting, which continued for about one hour.
One MLA reportedly told Nadda that they are facing problem's in executing development initiatives in their respective assembly constituencies despite remaining in the ruling party and it could become a hurdle in the run up to the state assembly elections.
The MLA also urged Nadda to give advice to the government for taking up aggressive activities in the last few months of the current term.
Later, JP Nadda had a dinner with office bearers of BJP Manipur Pradesh, party spokespersons, MPs, MLAs and other dignitaries which was followed by another round of meeting with some key leaders of the party.
