Class VII, VIII syllabi to have financial education

State Level Curriculum & Syllabus Committee has approved inclusion of lessons on financial education in the syllabi of class VII and VIII of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BoSEM).
The committee decided to give approval for inclusion of lessons on financial education from the academic session 2022-23 as part of the preparation to impart knowledge about financial management concept to students.
The committee also discussed with subject experts who developed lessons on financial education by holding a meeting at the conference hall of SCERT, Lampelpat on Friday.
During the meeting chaired by SCERT commissioner, importance of financial management skills, competency and application in students' life and matters relating to it were discussed thoroughly and ft subsequently decided to approve inclusion of lessons on financial education in the syllabi of classes VII and VIII under BoSEM.
Mention may be made that the matter of imparting financial education to students was discussed during a meeting of State Level Bankers Committee chaired by chief secretary held sometime back and RBI too had released a booklet on this matter.
RBI regional manager (Imphal) also attended Friday's meeting.
