Imphal, October 09 2021:
United Front Manipur has demanded the Central government for early resolution of the Indo-Myanmar border issue.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Saturday, United Front Manipur chairman Sapam Samungou said that the government of India can easily resolve the border issue and the 60 MLAs as well as the MPs from the state have major role to play in mounting pressure on the Central government in this regard.
The border issue might not crop up if the border fencing work was taken up after conducting a joint survey of the border.
The state government can also resolve the row by apprising the issue to the ministry of external affairs and ministry of home affairs, he asserted.
Unless, the border row is resolved at the earliest, large chunk of state's land will fall into the same fate like that of Kabaw valley and so, the MLAs and MPs of Manipur should act as the protector of the state's boundary, he said and added that they should take firm stand on the issue and do the needful in an aggressive manner.
