FIPRESCI decries

International Federation of Film Critics � India Chapter (FIPRESCI-India) has demanded the Kerala Government to take punitive action against the 'authoritarian' leadership at KR Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts.
In a press release, FIPRESCI-India alleged that KR Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts is reeling under an authoritarian leadership which has turned casteist and practices uncivilized attitude towards students and staff.
This has been widely reported in the media and also discussed in some of the forums under the 27th International Film Festival of Kerala: IFFK 2022, the statement added.
Stating that cinema is the most democratically inclined modern form of expression, FIPRESCI-India called the enforcement of retrograde rules upon students of cinema 'shameful' .
FIPRESCI-India also called upon all arts, cultural and social activists to unite and oppose any form of feudal and inhumane practices.
"At any institutional level the spirit of learning should not be held back with narrow, sectarian considerations.
Let the doors to learn the craft of cinema and its aesthetics remain free from any kind of dogma and social taboos", the statement concluded.
