All around the world, people celebrate and welcome the New Year with the hope that it will be a good year.
The supreme creator doesn't make a year good or bad.
A good or a bad year depends on the people and Government of the State.
Therefore, people of Manipur, while welcoming the New Year, 2023 with the hope and aspiration that it will bring peace and prosperity, should unite, perform their duties towards the State and strive for peaceful coexistence of all communities, said AMUCO in its message on New Year's eve today.
As the world does, people of Manipur too celebrate Bye-Bye on December 31 and welcome the New Year on January 1 hosting feasts with friends and family.
However, while celebrating New Year, people should keep in mind the state of the economy and situation in Manipur.
In the name of celebration, people should not spend money extravagantly and indulge in traditions that would harm them and the society.
While celebrating, people should not use or indulge in consumption of intoxicants/drugs.
They should be responsible and they should maintain moral discipline, said AMUCO.
On the other hand, a new Covid variant BF.7 has become a cause of concern worldwide.
Cases of COVID-19 are on the rise in many parts of the world.
There is apprehension that Covid cases due to the highly infectious variant may surge in India.
The future, whether 2023 will bring happiness or it will fill the world with sadness and cries of people due to Covid, depends on how the people act and respond.
Therefore, people of the State should strictly follow all protocols and Covid appropriate behaviorus-wearing masks, maintaining physical distance and washing hands, AMUCO said.
Lastly, people, specially youths should take great care to avoid unwanted incidents during the New Year celebrations.
Local clubs and Meira Paibis should also assist in making the celebrations safe and lively.
Police and traffic personnel should also take up appropriate measures to avoid road accidents and other unwanted incidents during the celebrations, added AMUCO.
AMUCO wished for the New Year to bring unity and peaceful coexistence of all communities in Manipur.
