Imphal, December 31 2022:
The month-long 83rd Nupee Lal Observance organised by Nupee Lal Memorial Association, Manipur (NLMAM) concluded at Nupi Lal Memorial Complex, here, on Saturday.
Speaking at the valedictory programme, BJP Manipur Mahila Morcha president Lourembam Loteeka Leima commended the Association for organising the observance in remembrance of the historic event and the Manipuri womenfolk who took part in the movement against the anti-people policies of the then British India government.
While expressing keen desire that people of contemporary society have the will and strength of mothers of the yore, she said that women should support one another.
The purpose of the observance is to remind and instil the strength and sacrificial spirit of women of that era to the present generation, Loteeka said.
In her speech, NLMAM president Waikhom Bormani Leima said that the mothers stood firm against British colonialism and such resistance by womenfolk did not occur in any part of the world.
The valedictory function was also attended by Imphal East Adhyaksha Pungsubam Bimola, Imphal West Upa Adhyaksha Laishram Bobby Devi, social worker Nongthombam Ahanbi and BJP Heingang Mandal Mahila Morcha secretary Wangkhem Priyosakhi as presidium members.
