Netaji Subash 125th anniversary event begins

The three-week long observance of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's 125th birth anniversary commenced with a curtain raiser webinar at University Institute Hall in Kolkata on Saturday.
The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose 125th Birth Anniversary Celebration All India Committee organised a Curtain Raiser Webinar to inaugurate the commemorative programme.
The valedictory ceremony will be held on January 23 at University Institute Hall, Kolkata.
The curtain raiser webinar was addressed by Prof.Anita Bose Pfaff, daughter of Netaji and retired professor of Economics, and scientist and president of Anniversary Committee Prof Soumitro Banerjee.
The webinar which was moderated by committee vice president Biswabasu Das was live telecast on Facebook and YouTube.
While Prof Pfaff put detailed life history of Netaji and his struggle within and outside family, his different aspects of political and personal life, Prof Soumitro Banerjee recounted his ideas and courageous struggle against compromising trend in the Indian freedom movement, communal sentiments, subjugation of women and exploitation of factory and agricultural labourers.
He also spoke about the ideas preached by Netaji for students and youth for their decisive role in any social change.
The speakers stressed the relevance of Netaji today and understanding his ideas.
The webinar ended with an appeal by the speakers to the students and youth of our country for dedicating the life to the cause of nation building.
