World Heart Day observed, walkathon held

The month-long observance of State Level World Heart Day 2022 organised by State NCD Cell, National Health Mission, Manipur on the theme, "Use Heart for Every Heart" concluded today at Sangai Resort in Kha Potshangbam Maning.
The programme was conducted under National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS) by District NCD Cell, Bishnupur in collaboration with TAMOGNA Enterprises Ltd.
It was attended by DC Bishnupur, Lourembam Bikram; Joint Director & State Nodal Officer, NCD, Dr Y Premchandra Singh and CMO Thoubal, Y Nokul Singh as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, L Bikram highlighted the relation between heart diseases and the environment.
He appealed to the public to support the District Administration's effort to save the environment by planting more trees.

DR Y Premchandra stated that the door-to-door campaign was carried out to spread awareness on heart related diseases to the public.
As part of the event, awards including Best District Nodal Officer NCD, Best Epidemiologist, Best Assistant Programme Manager, Best Assistant Finance Manager, Best CHO and Best ASHA were presented to staff of departments under State NCD.
Meanwhile, in line with the observance of World Heart Day, a walkathon carrying the message of "Walk for a healthy heart" was flagged off today by CMO Bishnupur, Dr L Raichandra.
The walkathon participated by staff of NCD Cell Bishnupur, TAMOGNA Enterprises Ltd and CSOs went from Bishnupur CI College Gate to Old CMO Office Bishnupur.
Placards with the slogans such as, "Rest a while and run a mile", "No tobacco", "Keep your blood pressure in check", "Eat fruits", "Save your heart", "Save your loved ones", "No alcohol", "Burn those calories", etc were used at the walkathon.
Later, a painting competition participated by 18 students from Loyola School was conducted and prizes were distributed to the winners.
