Awareness on Thang-Ta organised

Imphal, October 29 2022:
On the 14th day of the month-long programme in connection with observance of Thang-Ta day organised by Thang-Ta Day Observation Committee under the aegis of KIMACS, an awareness programme on the traditional martial art form was held on Saturday at Master Sankey English School, Irilbung.
In a release, media convenor L Saityamjit Meetei informed that the Committee has been observing the Day since 2018 after MP and titular king of Manipur Leisemba Sanajaoba announced that Thang-Ta Day will be held every year November 15 .
Saturday's programme was attended by School principal Soram Keneshwor Singh, administrator Konjengbam Somi Singh, Thang-Ta Day Observation Committee chairman Leitanthem Dhamendro and KIMACS president Ningthoujam Ajitkumar Mangang as the presidium members.
In his address, Dhamendro stressed on the need to keep one's body and mind healthy and explained that learning Thang-ta will not only help shape a healthy life style, but also be useful in self-defence.
Meanwhile, principal Keneshwor noted that introduction of Thang-Ta as a subject in schools has helped in instilling discipline amongst the student.
