Senapati DC bans hunting, killing of Amur Falcons

Senapati, October 29 2022:
District Magistrate/ Deputy Commissioner Senapati Mahesh Chaudhari has ordered a total ban on hunting, catching, killing, and selling migratory birds (including Amur Falcon) in the district with immediate effect.
A press release issued by the DC stated that migratory birds have been sighted in some parts of Senapati district this month.
It stated that hunting/killing/destruction of wildlife (including migratory birds Amur Falcon or Falcon amurensis) in any way for food or possession or otherwise is a punishable offence under Sections 50 and 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 .
The village authorities concerned have been directed to strictly monitor the implementation of the order.
The villages include Liyai, Phuba, Maiba, Saranamai, Tunggam, Phaibung, Lakhamai, Thonglang, Karong, TNK Senapati, Makhel, Tobumai and Kaibi.
The District Magistrate has also directed the general public not to committ any form of wildlife crime which are punishable under law.
