Monsang Day of Prayer held

The 4th Sirti Iliamna Enii 2022, also known as Monsang Day of Prayer 2022, was held at Ng Mono Monsang Memorial Hall, Japhou, Chandel district on Saturday under the aegis of Sirti Upa Ruh (Monsang Tribe Union) .
Leaders of Monsang church, villages, civil society organisations, student bodies, clubs and children from Monsang villages attended the prayer day.
SUR president Ng Benith-an, advisor Ng Gilbert and MNBCA executive secretary Rev Alani Shongsir were the main speakers of the event among many other dignitaries and guests.
In his welcome and key note address, Ng Benithan read out note of appreciation of the past leaders of the Monsang community and led a minute of silent prayer as a mark of solidarity and respect to all the departed leaders of the Monsang tribe.
Since its inception in 2019, October 29 is being observed as Monsang Day of Prayer as Monsang community got Scheduled Tribe recognition on October 29, 1956.The objective of observing the Day of Prayer is to seek blessings from the Lord for the community to progress with right knowledge, wisdom, humility, unity, good health and happiness, the SUR president explained.
Ng Gilbert in his speech emphasised the need for documentation of the rich history and culture of the Monsang community for future posterity.
He encouraged the community to move forward with quality and positive outlook.
Rev Upa Alani Shongsir as a blessing minister prayed for unity, safeguard of Monsang identity and spirit of forgive and forget to strengthen the community as one family.
The programme moderated by Ts Monichung, finance secretary SUR, was enlivened by beautiful gospel songs from Japhou Baptist Youth Fellowship Worship Team and Ngii-riiti Rothangrii Monsang.
