Imphal, October 29 2022:
In view of the drought situation prevailing in the state due to scanty rainfall, Manipur Loumi Marup, Khundrakpam Local Committee has appealed to farmland owners not to take payment (Loushal) from the tenant farmers for this year.
The Khundrakpam Local Committee convened a meeting presided over by its president Nongmaithem Thoiba Singh at Lamboikhul on Saturday.
After minute deliberation, the meeting affirmed that the farmers could not harvest their crops due to lack of rainfall and further resolved to convey to the farmland owners to exempt Loushal from tenant farmers this year.
It also urged the government to declare drought in the state and provide compensation to the affected farmers.
Pointing out the deplorable condition of Sawombung to Sagolmang road, the meeting also resolved to exert pressure on the government for repairing the road in order to mitigate inconveniences caused to the people.
