One arrested for forgery

The State police on Friday arrested one 21 year old youth on the charge of forging vehicle registration number (Toyota Fortuner) .
The accused has been identified as Tagalung Newme, s/o Jacob Newme of Tousem Khunou, currently staying at Langol Game Village.
He was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West by Singjamei police today following which the Court remanded him in police custody for five days.
Through an APP, the IO of the case submitted that the accused was arrested yesterday based on a complaint lodged by one Mayanglambam Nabakumar.
The complainant was informed by one of his friends on October 23 last about the appearance of a Tata Fortuner near Imphal Airport having the same registration number as his vehicle (Toyota Fortuner), said the IO.
Saying that the complainant enquired about the matter to Toyota showroom at Imphal, the IO continued that the SUV with fake registration number was even repaired at the showroom recently.
Reportedly, the vehicle was seized from Langol Game Village Zone II.
The IO submitted that the investigation is in initial stage and prayed for remanding the accused in police custody for five days.
The Court, on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO, remanded the accused in police custody till November 2 .
