Police get custody of accused in sexual abuse case

A man arrested by women police station, Imphal East in connection with sexual assault of a minor girl has been remanded to three days' police custody by a court on Saturday.
The arrested man has been identified as Ngangom Anthony (32), son of Keso of Yairipok Yambem Mathak Leikai.
Anthony is the second accused arrested in connection with the case relating to sexual abuse of a minor girl after the arrest of the first accused namely Maibam Sanayaima (18), son of Arun Singh of Yairipok Kekru Mayai Leikai.
Sanayaima was rounded up on October 26 from his house and sent to six days' police custody by a court.
Following the arrest of Sanayaima, Anthony surrendered to OC women police station, Imphal East on October 28 around 4pm and accordingly arrested.
Anthony was procured before a court on Saturday and the court remanded him to three days' policy custody.
As per report furnished by IO of the case to the court, the victim's mother filed a report at women police station, Imphal East stating that her minor daughter was kidnapped by some unidentified people from her residential gate on October 24 at about 1.30 pm.
When the girl returned home and narrated her ordeal, family came to know that she had been sexually assaulted and accordingly filed a report to the police.
Based on the report, police conducted investigation after registering an FIR.
Physical examination of the victim during the course of police investigation revealed that Sanayaima and Anthony indeed sexually assaulted the victim.
