Four murder accused remanded in judicial custody

Four persons accused of mur-dering Md Mujibur Rahaman have been remanded in judicial custody till Novem- ber 12 by the a Court of a duty Magistrate, today.
The four persons including one step-brother of the victim and his wife were produced before the Lam-phel Court this afternoon amid a crowd of angry protesters.
While the step-brother and his wife have been identified as Md Islauddin (35) and Rehema (32) of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Khongnang Makhong, the other two accused of the murder have been identified as BM Fayaz Ahamed (23) of Lilong Chandrakhong Mamei and Md Sabir Ahamad alias Boycha (36) of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai.
They were produced before the Court by a team of Lilong police today after completion of the police custody period.
Notably, Md Mujibur Rahaman was found dead at Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Ngangou Loukon in the early morning of October 15.He had injury on his head.
Two days later on October 17, the police had arrested the four accused persons in connection with the case.
At the hearing today, the Investigation Officer of the case submitted that during interrogation, the accused persons have admitted to the charges leveled against them but they are concealing some facts and other circumstances leading to the crime.
Submitting that the accused persons had conspired to commit the crime and destroy evidence, the Investigating Officer prayed for judicial custody of the four for further investigation.
The Court, after perusal of the case records and the submissions, remanded the four to judicial custody till November 12 .
In the meantime, another team of Lilong Police filed an application before the Court for making formal arrest of the step-brother, Islauddin in connection with a separate FIR case registered at Lilong police station under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (ND&PS) Act.
The Court, after hearing the application, allowed formal arrest of Islauddin and directed the police to produce him before the Court concerned.
While the accused persons were being escorted to a police vehicle after completion of the Court proceedings, angry crowd of people including women and members of a joint action committee formed against the murder shouted slogans demanding the Court to give befitting punishment to the four.
