The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West today remanded a youth in judicial custody for allegedly attempting to murder his own father on October 29 at around 10.30 am at Langol Housing Complex, Type III quarters under Lamphel Police Station.
Accused Thangjalung alias Thanga Haokip (25) s/o Douthang Haokip of Langol Housing Complex, Type III was produced before the Court by a team of Lamphel police station with a prayer for judicial custody remand Through an APP, the IO of the case submitted that family members of the accused lodged a complaint to Lamphel police station yesterday stating that on October 29 at around 10.30 am while they were sitting at their residential quarters, the accused came out suddenly from his room and drew out a deadly weapon (knife) and put the knife on his father's throat demanding money.
The father escaped the alleged murder attempt due to timely intervention by some people of the neighbourhood.
According to the complaint, it was not the first incident that the accused had threatened to kill his father in the last few months.
The accused was arrested yesterday at around 5 pm.
During interrogation, the accused admitted the charges levelled against him and also revealed that he is a drug abuser for the last 4-5 years.
The IO also submitted that the accused was lodged in jail in the past too in connection with a case of stealing from neighbours, and prayed for judicial custody remand.
The Court, on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO, remanded the alleged accused in judicial custody till November 14 .
